Avaya one-X Portal
The Avaya one-X portal is a browser-based unified communications client. Like the Avaya one-X Communicator it provides one common desktop interface for telephony, presence, messaging, accessing directories, and audio conferencing. Users simply click on a URL to bring-up the portal and can then use it to access and manage all their communications activities from any location. From a system manager's point of view, being web-based, one-X portal works from anywhere and there is no need to deploy software to each desktop.
G3 recommends that customers use the more feature-rich one-X Communicator as its core unified communication software application, with the one-X Portal providing a disaster recovery and business continuity option. With one-X Portal in place - which will require a server - in the event of a major business interruption your employees will be able to log-in remotely from any internet connection to access all their communications tools. In addition, one-X Portal can provide extra flexibility for temporary or remote workers to gain secure access to your system without the need for having one-X Communicator installed on their PCs.
